Brokers must pay the $45 renewal fee to NCREC, each year during the renewal period beginning on May 15th. The commission must receive the renewal fee no later than 11:59 PM on June 30th. 

This fee can be paid on the commission's website using a credit or debit card or PayPal. Cash, checks, and in-person payments are not accepted.

Don't wait until the last minute on June 30th to renew your license. If the commission's website is down, your internet or power is down, or anything else prevents you from renewing, your license will expire, and you will have to deal with the consequences of your failure to renew.

Brokers may retrieve the most current License Law and Commission rules by accessing the Commission’s website using the following instructions: 

1) go to www.ncrec.gov; 

2) click on Resources; 

3) click License Law/Rules; 

4) click Chapter 58 under Rules; and 

5) review Real Estate Commission rules in Chapter 58.

If your license is expired, you CANNOT 

• Attend a closing
• Continue to communicate 
• Finish a transaction
• Conduct and marketing or advertising
